Power went out at Kukui Grove Center and Kaua‘i Community College Wednesday when a fuse blew during attempts to install a new distribution circuit between the Taco Bell restaurant and Nawiliwili Road, a Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative spokesman said.
Power went out at 11:04 a.m., and was restored 11:59 a.m., after a KIUC work crew identified the problem and replaced the fuse, according to Jack Leavitt, the manager of the transmission and distribution division of KIUC.
Leavitt said before 11 a.m., members of a KIUC crew tried to install a switch to facilitate the installation of the distribution circuit.
To facilitate the work, the crew members transferred loads around, and melted a fuse in the process.
