KALAHEO — Kalaheo Neighborhood Center has been pressed into action as one of several evacuation centers due to the inclement weather.
This forced the cancellation of the county’s 14 and Under boys basketball games that were scheduled for yesterday, said Clyde Vito of the county’s recreation agency.
The rainy weather was also a factor in the games being cancelled, Vito added.
“However, the games scheduled for Kaua‘i High School for tomorrow are still on until further notice,” Vito said.
Earlier in the week, three games were played before the rains descended on Kaua‘i.
Paleku Yasay and Davone Florence, Jr. each notched 14 points to lead Laukona to a 74-38 showing over the Gee Unit B in a game played Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Joe Duronslet finished with a game-high 26 points to lead the Unit B effort with Adam Clark adding six points.
Justin Ramos, Kekoa Prem, and Thomas Gausepol each finished with 13 points to lead the Gee Unit A to a 49-36 win over the Lihu‘e Enforcers who were led by Sheldon Sakai finishing with 14 points.
Cole Parongao ended with 16 points, and Hino Kanahele added 14 points as Southside soared over Papalina 66-39 in the Monday night finale.
Keanu Palama finished with a game-high 19 points to lead the Papalina effort with Micah Rita chipping in seven markers.
