Recently, KIF canoe paddling all-stars were released by the league and the team consists of a good mix from all five schools.
The Warrior boys ended up in eighth-place in the state, with the Warrior girls taking seventh, and the Red Raider girls grabbing the eighth-place slot.
Kapa’a fielded two athletes on the all-star girls squad in Kelly Nakagoshi and Lokelani Manaku.
The rest of the team included Kula’s Danielle Hoen, Kaua’i’s Candace La’amea, Waimea’s Jojie Geronimo, and Island’s Kelli-Rose Hooser.
Kula took two spots on the boys squad, with Jeff Sexton and Kibo Smith leading the way.
Kapa’a’s Ethan Dinnan, Kaua’i’s Preston Ramson, Waimea’s Cyril Botelho, and Island’s Chris Marsh rounded out the boys team.
Each school got two representatives on the mixed all-star squad.
Kapa’a’s Alan Kahaunaele/Rachel Smith, Kula’s Sam Richard/Amber Loughead, Kaua’i’s Skye Viernes/Alison Katahira, Waimea’s Kimo Farias/Mariah Teter, and Island’s Brian O’Brien/Jenna Smalling were all recognized for their amazing talents in the canoe.
