Officials with the Kauai Economic Opportunity, Inc. Employment Core Services program recently accepted a $500 grant award from leaders of the Lihu‘e Wal-Mart, KEO officials said in a press release.
The grant will be used to train Kauaians to overcome hurdles between themselves and finding employment.
Leaders at KEO are committed to promoting grassroots participation to create social and economic self-sufficiency among low-income families through an array of services.
To alleviate the conditions of poverty, the Employment Core Services Programs staff members help individuals through progressive employment development through barrier-identification, goal-setting, skills-development, job search and job retention skills.
The award will help participants by assisting with the purchase of initial clothing or equipment requirements for employment. For more information on KEO’s Employment Core Services program, call Kerri Villa at 245-4077.
