‘Queen’ Joyce, ‘King’ Bunichi reign at Mahelona Hospital

“Queen” Joyce and “King” Bunichi were royalty for a day at Mahelona Medical Center (Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital and East Kauai Walk-In Clinic) on the Kapa‘a campus recently. They were serenaded by around two dozen students from the Kapaa Headstart preschool, as were around 40 other Mahelona residents, said Josie Pablo, hospital recreational therapist, in a press release.

The hospital auditorium was filled with red and white balloons and streamers. For an encore, the preschoolers gave hugs and kisses to the kupuna.
