That game featured the defensive prowess of both squads’ stoppers and sweepers as the first half closed on a 0-0 note as the defenders effectively closed off the area fronting the goalmouth.
The GU12 squad closed the weekend on a 1-0-1 records as they tied the Blue Dolphins 1-1 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, further down the field, the Tunda Girls in the GU-8 notched a 2-1 win over the pink-shirted Kaua’i Kickers, and in the finale, the Tunda Girls in the GU 10 division controlled the Hanapepe Hokulele 6-0.
The Tunda Girls’ Sunday opponents featured teams that hailed from the West-side
KSA commissioner Kevin Devitt, who was watching the games with Ha’aheo coach Bobby Rapozo, noted that this season has a good turnout from Westside teams.
Patty Kaiakapu, one of the KOA FC coaches, was proud of the fact that their team was made up of players from Kalaheo to Mana, explaining that the acronym in their team name stands for “Footzball Club.”
The winning record sets the stage for this week’s Tunda Girls’ agenda as the Under 8 girls face a rematch against the Kaua’i Kickers Saturday at the North Vidinha fields.
Hawaiian Heat is the opponent for the Under 10 Tunda Girls, and the Tunda Girls GU12 squad goes up against KSC-North.
Ha’aheo opens a double-header for Lihu’e Remix who tangle on Saturday at 8:30 in the GU-12 before taking on Kulia Lanakila at 11:40 in the GU-14 division.
