Gregory Espina
Gregory Xavier Espina of Kapa’a died on Feb. 27, 2006, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital at the age of 52.
Born in Honolulu on Jan. 10, 1954, he was the branch manager for Territorial Savings, and also a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Preceded in death by his brother Michael Espina, he is survived by his wife, Sharon L.L. Espina; sons Sheldon (Kylene) Espina, Kelsey Espina, Trevor Espina; stepsons Howard Scott Albers Jr. and Garrett Albers; stepdaughter, Kara Albers; one grandchild, Kaz; parents, Rufino and Dolores Espina; brother Edward Espina; sisters Roxanne Hiltsey and Priscilla Espina; ex-wife, Norma Jean Suliven.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 11, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa’a, with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home officials assisted family members with arrangements.
Joyce Hanohano
Joyce Kawayo Nakamura Hano-hano of Kapa’a died Feb. 24, 2006, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 80.
Born March 5, 1925, in Papa’a in Ko’olau, she was a preschool teacher for Kauai Economic Opportunity, Inc.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Hanohano of Kapa’a; two daughters, Vivian (Jacob) Kamibayashi of Maui and Maude (John) Cumming of Maui; three sons, Daniel Hanohano of Sacramento, the Rev. Nathan (Deby) Hanohano of California, and Kenneth Hanohano of Kapa’a; three brothers, Douglas Nakamura of California, Mitsuto Nakamura of Kentucky and Sadamu Nakamura of O’ahu; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 14, at 2 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center on Kapule Highway in Lihu’e, where services will be celebrated at 4 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by the staff of Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Evelyn Marian Schlamp
Evelyn Marian Schlamp of Princeville died at her home on Feb. 27, 2006 at the age of 89, following a lengthy illness which she bravely endured.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, on July 8, 1916. She was a dedicated home maker.
She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Schlamp of Princeville; son, Richard (Charlene) Schlamp of Issaquah, Wash.; daughter, Marian Schlamp of Arlington, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States.
No services will be held on Kaua’i. Flowers are gratefully declined. Do-nations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Cremation was handled by staff at Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
