KAUA’I AND HAWAI’I BY THE NUMBERS

  • On an annual average basis, consumer prices in the Honolulu metropolitan area rose 3.8 percent in 2005, some 0.4 percentage points more than the national increase of 3.4 percent. Honolulu’s housing prices contributed most heavily to the increase, rising 5.6 percent for the year, compared to the nationwide increase of 3.3 percent, federal officials reported in a press release.
