Now, KIF competitors will get a taste throughout the entire season of what it feels like to run on rubber.
The synthetic surface is utilized at the state level and up until now, Kaua’i athletes were left in the dust.
On Friday, March 10, KIF athletes will make history by being the first group of individuals to compete on the new track.
The KIF’s first qualifying meet should start around 4 p.m.
Already on tap is KIF tennis, which heads to the Kiahuna Tennis Courts in Po’ipu today.
At 12 noon, Kapa’a and Island School will tangle and then at 2 p.m., Kaua’i and Waimea will do battle.
KIF golf tees up on Saturday, March 11 at the Kaua’i Lagoons Mokihana Golf Course, starting at 11:30 a.m. The following Saturday, March 18, KIF baseball pitches up another exciting season, with Waimea and Kapa’a battling at the Ron Martin Ballpark, with the first of a double dip beginning at 10 a.m.
KIF girls basketball is the last sport to begin its 2005-06 campaign, with the Warriors and Menehune facing off on Tuesday, March 28.
JV games begin at 5:30 p.m. and varsity action starts 20 minutes after the completion of the JV contests.
