PMRF pass office is closed today

The U.S. Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility pass and identification office at the main gate is closed today, as the facility is being moved to the housing gate off Kaumuali‘i Highway south of the main gate, PMRF officials said in a press release.

Also at PMRF, flight operations scheduled for Sunday will necessitate the early closure of the Special Use Fishing Area, from Kawaiele Ditch northwards to the southernmost wind sock adjacent to the runway.

The area will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Sunday only.

No camping permits issued

State Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of State Parks officials have suspended the issuance of camping permits for all state parks on Kaua‘i until the severe weather subsides, a spokesperson said in a press release.

“We advise the public to avoid trails or streams during the stormy conditions due to dangers from flash floods,” said Peter Young, DLNR chairperson. “People should also avoid crossing high, swift-flowing water on roadways.”
