Congratulations to Rose Dahle and her committee on another great scholarship pageant! Sherri Holcomb is a committee member, and her Excel Dance Studio performers did an outstanding job. Sherri capped the whole thing off by joining Tommy Tokioka on stage for a vocal number introducing the girls for the final time before announcement of the new queens. JK had a busy day, starting with the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation Cheer Championships, setting up his camera operator at the pageant, and off to a church thingie. Keep watching the “JK Show” for all these fine events. J Robertson was excellent behind the podium, and Therese Jasper had a busy day, juggling between son Jett Jasper’s baseball game, the judges’ interview, and then ending at the pageant. Jett (congratulations on scoring four times in Kaua‘i’s 16-2 win over Lahaina!) made it to the Sunday AJA championships, and was rooting for Jessica Iwata, who would’ve gotten a hit if the Makaweli centerfielder was just a step slower. Congratulations to coach Peter Ishibashi (he was at the KIF championships Saturday) and the Kalaheo team on repeating as the Kaua‘i AJA (Americans of Japanese Ancestry) baseball league champions. But, before the game, Dean Fujikawa had part of the Kaua‘i High School electric-car team doing final runs in the parking lot.
OK, Lion Steven Fujii will be waiting for you at the East Kauai Lions’ annual pancake breakfast Sunday, and Bev Pang says to make sure you come to the Saturday parade for the Iraqi veterans.
