Officials with the Kaua’i Police Department yesterday named the person who died in last Friday’s traffic crash in Moloa’a. According to the KPD press release he was identified as George K. Ewaliko Jr., 48, of Lawa’i. According to the release,
Officials with the Kaua’i Police Department yesterday named the person who died in last Friday’s traffic crash in Moloa’a. According to the KPD press release he was identified as George K. Ewaliko Jr., 48, of Lawa’i.
According to the release, Ewaliko is originally from the Big Island and his family was notified of his death on Wednesday.
Ewaliko was northbound on Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Moloa’a bridge at around 4 p.m., Feb. 17 when he apparently lost control of the vehicle he was driving, crossed the centerline and collided with a truck driven by Kapa’a resident Christopher Hicks.
Ewaliko died at the scene, while Hicks sustained minor injuries. Ewaliko is the third traffic fatality on Kaua’i this year.
