Amy Lauren’s art gallery will host an artist demonstration during Hanapepe’s Friday Art Night tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Artist Joan Roberts will exhibit and demonstrate the use of silver clay, forming beautiful island leaf shapes.
Silver Clay, also known as Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a combination of fine silver, a binder and water to form a clay that can be rolled, shaped, molded, and textured. After firing, the piece is fine silver. The material has become a very popular jewelry medium world-wide.
Roberts has been working with PMC for three years, focusing on organic themes of shells and leaves. She is a certified PMC instructor and provides private lessons and support to artists new to the medium. She is a yearly visitor to the island since the late 1980s, and she does her silver work here on Kaua‘i and at her studio in Sedona, Ariz. Her work can be found in galleries in Sedona and McLean, Va.
For more information on Roberts, call the art gallery at 335-2827.
