It’s all business at this canoe race
The 19th annual Kaua’i Business Canoe Race, presented by the Kaiola Canoe Club, heads to Hanama’ulu Bay on April 23.
Teams sponsored by local businesses will paddle and compete in the nearly quarter-mile races. The purpose of this event is to promote friendly competition between members of the business community and give people an opportunity to experience canoe paddling.
Each team will consist of five paddlers. Businesses will supply the canoe, paddles and a steerperson. Paddlers do not have to work for the sponsoring business.
There will be three divisions (men, women, mixed) with classifications of novice B, novice A, open, and mixed master.
Entry fee is $100 per crew and forms can be obtained by calling 651-2996. Deadline for entries is noon on April 20.
Besides trophies for the winners, there will be a trophy for the “best dressed” and “most motivated team.”
