The Christmas Lady, the Mermaid, and the Pirate were all at the Kaua‘i Products Council craft fair Saturday as Amy Christmas (she was asking about Kaua‘i Made), Lori Ornellas (Todd Vines knows her as the Salt Lady), and Kaleia Valin were all a-buzz between customers.
At the entertainment tent, Ilima Rivera was doing her magic with the sound system as Kehaulani Kekua overcame that obstacle by saying, “Kupuna never had microphones. They just talk loud.” And, as soon as that excitement died off, Larry Rivera took the stage straight from the airport.
Speaking of Larry, normally we see him between his Kaua‘i Product Store and Hilo Hattie’s appearances on Monday, but this time, it was Leilani Bond who was teaching hula to students from the Okinawa Christian Junior College at KCC.
Brian Yamamoto (he was at the Anahola Japanese Community Association New Year’s party Saturday) got a little worried when the group didn’t show up at the KCC cafeteria, but all is well. Was nice to run into chef Clarence Nishi who was checking into what he was going to let the exchange students cook, and John Isobe was making sure there were no loose ends.
Billy Gibson was taking advantage of no Fine Dining on Mondays, but is already looking ahead to Sunday when they host the ACF Brunch (get your tickets before they sell out — it’s a bargain, and Monday is a holiday!). Finally, hats off to Ro Davis and Sean Magoun for hosting another great KIF Swim Championship Saturday!
