The Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation 11th Annual Eat Dessert First fund-raiser is Friday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Terrace Restaurant at Kauai Lagoons in Lihu‘e, and there will be lots more than just sweet after-dinner indulgences.
Yes, the desserts are the stars of the show, created by local chefs, but there will also be live entertainment, a silent auction, and much more to keep patrons occupied, Zonta members said in a press release.
Indulge in creative and delicious desserts made by local chefs including some from Coconuts Island Style Grill & Bar, Beezers Old Fashioned Ice Cream, Bali Hai Restaurant, The Hukilau Lanai restaurant, Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach, Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, Blossoming Lotus restaurant, Pedro’s Texas BBQ, Hanapepe Café & Espresso, and other local restaurants.
Zonta members will get out their favorite homemade recipes as well, and create a huge variety of desserts.
There will be fresh fruit dipped in Belgian chocolate by Fountains of Chocolate, and sugar-free desserts as well as fruit, cheese-and-cracker platters. Professionals from Kauai Chocolate Company from Port Allen Marina Center will be on hand, serving up their homemade macadamia nut and pina colada ice cream.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Clyde Letreta, a local musician who currently performs weekly at Kukui’s restaurant at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club. He has been hard at work on his first CD, due out this month.
Silent-auction items include jewelry from The Secret Garden; a Ni‘ihau shell necklace; Hawaiian quilt pillows from Kapaia Stitchery; a wide variety of gift baskets; two nights at the Princeville Hotel; one-night stays at the Lawai Beach Resort; art donated by artists Neal Matsuyama and Semus; Tropical Tantrum gift certificate; 14k gold ear pins from Grande’s Gems; activities from Kayak Kauai, Kauai Sea Tours, Blue Dolphin Charters, and much more.
Patrons will have the chance to win a romantic getaway for two which includes two nights in a deluxe ocean view room at the Sheraton Kauai Resort, dining at Keoki’s Paradise (donated by Stephen Leis, president of Dorvin D. Leis, Mechanical Contractor); a Na Pali Coast cruise donated by Capt. Andy’s; Kauai ATV adventure for two; a 14k gold, heart-shaped plumeria pendant from Robert’s Jewelry; crystal champagne flutes; Kauai Chocolate Company creations, and more.
