Contest highlights Sweetheart Ball

Leaders of Kauai Diabetes Today will once again sponsor the annual Sweetheart Ball, they said in a press release. This is the third annual ball. It is on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Kauai Beach Hotel & Resort (formerly the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort).

Tickets are available for $40 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact either Thelma Pascual at 651-7439, or Jean Iida at 651- 7775.

• On page A7 of the Sunday paper, in the story about the end of grades kindergarten through fifth at Waimea Canyon School, those in the photo are misidentified.

The photo contains Kekaha School Principal Carol Shikada and some fifth-grade students in front of the upper-elementary building on the Kekaha School campus.

• A front-page story in yesterday’s paper misreported the start date of Mario Batiz- Alvarez’s sex-assault jury trial.

The trial was scheduled to begin Monday before Fifth Circuit Court Judge Kathleen N.A.

Watanabe, but the trial start date was reset for April 3.
