The Kapa‘a High School varsity mixed team bettered their time from the KIF opening regatta, but slipped to a third place finish in the division at Saturday’s second regatta of the season. The Warrior team crossed the line at 3:58.80,
The Kapa‘a High School varsity mixed team bettered their time from the KIF opening regatta, but slipped to a third place finish in the division at Saturday’s second regatta of the season.
The Warrior team crossed the line at 3:58.80, bettering their season opening win time of 4:03.23, but was relegated to third as the Kula team powered across the line at 3:49.05. Kaua‘i’s team filled in the runner- up berth on a 3:56.06 crossing.
Overall, Kapa‘a finished in first place with 27 points based on first finishes in the JV boys, JV Mised, and Girls Varsity races.
The Warriors finished third in the JV Girls, Boys Varsity, and Varsity Mixed events.
Kaua‘i High School finished second overall at 21 points based on a first finish in the JV Girls race, but adding second finishes in the JV Boys and Varsity Mixed races. The Raiders finished fifth in the Varsity Boys event for their overall total.
Kula School, finishing first in the Varsity Boys race, filled in the third overall slot with 17 points, just one point ahead of Waimea High School who ended the day at 18 points based on four second place finishes in the JV Girls, JV Mixed, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys events. The Menehune rounded out the day with a fourth-place finish in the Varsity Mixed race.
Island School rounded out the leaders at six points based on fourth place finishes in the JV Girls and Varsity Boys races and fifth place finishes in the JV Mixed and Varsity Mixed events.
This Saturday’s regatta will be at the Wailua River starting at 10 a.m.
