Despite adversities in their opening pair of games, the Kapa’a High School JV boys soccer team overcame their obstacles to finish at the top of the KIF JV boys soccer league.
The junior Warrior men finished with 5 wins, no losses, and a tie after a rocky start, said coach Peter Sarsona.
But, with their “no lose” attitude, the junior Warriors were able to get through their first game by fielding just ten players due to academic problems.
The second game saw injuries plague the squad and the junior Warriors took the field against Kaua’i High School with just nine players in the sun.
Team members include Christian Taniguchi, Dylan James, Ian Lactaotao, Tyler Cram, Cameron Zulevich, Caleb Sarsona, Alex LaMadrid, Joseph Velasco, Austin Haigh, Glenn Miguel, Omar Rupert, Palani Mawae, Randolph Burns, and Dereyn Tamashiro.
Tyler Tangelder, a freshman, was upgraded to the varsity squad where he netted the winning goal against Waimea in their 2-1 victory, recently.
Head coach for the Kapa’a JV boys team is Peter Sarsona. Richard Minei is the assistant coach.
