Dr. Emilia Williams has joined the medical staff of Wilcox Memorial Hospital and Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the West Kauai Medical Center in Waimea, Dr. Robert Weiner announced in a press release.
She is board-certified in general surgery, and specializes in cancer surgery. She is associating in practice with Dr. Robert Weiner, and assuming his East Kaua‘i Clinics while he concentrates on the West Kaua‘i surgical practice, he said.
Prior to coming to Kaua‘i, Williams was a member of the Surgical Oncology Department of Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Wash.
She attended John Hopkins University, where she was on academic scholarship, and got her doctorate degree from the University of Illinois.
She did her surgical internship and residency at Ochsner Clinic and Hospital in New Orleans, La.
Subsequent to this, she was a surgical oncology fellow at Moffitt Cancer Institute, and was assistant professor of surgery at West Virginia University.
She was on the Breast Care Team at Virginia Mason Hospital, and helped to develop their cancer-screening guidelines.
She was published extensively in the area of breast cancer and sentinel node biopsy.
Williams lives on Kaua‘i with her husband, Ken Williams, a sales executive with Microsoft.
Her hobbies include oil painting and modern dance.
