Outgoing board members include Fred Atkins of Kauai Kilohana Partners and Mike Murakoshi of First Hawaiian Bank’s Kaua’i region.
Don Takaki was elected HVCB board chair, replacing Karen Hughes, who has left to assume a new position at Starwood’s headquarters in New York.
Tom Mullen of American Express Travel is the chair-elect, and Craig Anderson of The Westin Maui, formerly general manager of the Princeville Resort, is the Neighbor Island vice chair.
Former state Rep. Peter Apo, who used to represent a portion of Kaua’i in the state House and now represents the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association, is another HVCB board member.
Steve Williams of First Hawaiian Bank on Maui, formerly with the Kaua’i region of First Hawaiian Bank, is another HVCB board member.
Members of the staff and board of the HVCB look forward to working with the new and returning board members to forge a bright future for the bureau and for tourism in Hawai’i, they said in a news release.
