Kauai Concert Association (KCA) leaders recently received a grant for $500 from officials with the Young Brothers, Ltd. Community Advisory Board, to support KCA’s new project, “Enhancing Cultural Experiences for Preschool Children and Seniors with Disabilities.” With this new project, members of the KCA hope to expand their education services offered to residents of Kaua‘i, by providing opportunities for young children and seniors who may not have a chance to attend the regular concerts due to handicaps and or lack of funding to purchase tickets, a KCA spokesperson said.
Additional educational services will be provided at the Kaua‘i Community College Performing Arts Center or the Waimea Theatre, to include Head Start children and invitations to those in area care homes and senior groups.
The KCA leaders continue to apply for funding to increase the options to bring classical music to the youth and older citizens who are unable to participate in the season’s concerts, a KCA spokesperson said.
