After the first 200 units sold in only a few days, the final 150 units of the Kauai Beach Hotel & Resort at Nukoli’i will go on sale on Jan. 30, with another quick sale expected, owners said.
It is a chance for buyers to own their own hotel rooms, the owners indicated.
The hotel has a long and somewhat controversial history as a premiere vacation-resort hotel, the subject of lawsuits, special elections, and stopped-and-restarted construction before it finally opened as a Hilton property in the 1980s.
Now, it evolves again as a “condotel,” or a hotel that buyers can own individual units of in fee-simple ownership.
Local real estate investor Brian Anderson of Anekona Properties purchased the 12-acre property in December 2004 through the Anekona subsidiary KB Resort LLC, and is leading the conversion project.
The Kauai Beach Resort is Anderson’s second resort development on Kaua’i, having already led the conversion of Kaua’i’s first such condotel resort, The Islander on the Beach.
“We’re taking a valuable property with a well-regarded history on Kaua’i and redeveloping its purpose and potential,” said Anderson.
“The result will be a first-class resort of beauty and function offering an exceptional experience for vacationers at an attractive price point.”
