Let’s face it, the holidays have never really had sympathy for health watchers. All that food and eggnog. It’s enough to make a lot of us have to loosen our shorts.
With those snug shorts reminding us of holiday indulgences, many feel the urge to make healthier living a New Year’s resolution.
That could possibly be why January is Family Fit and Lifestyle Month.
For this, the Lihu’e Library has taken the opportunity to highlight healthy lifestyle books and resources available there. The Hawaii State Public Library System also has a fine selection of downloadable eBooks for your convenience.
In addition, between January and March, the Lihu’e Library will host a series of children’s programs about food growing and good eating, put on by the Kauai Master Gardeners. These sessions are geared for children in grades two through six. The first two sessions are scheduled for Jan. 11 and 25 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sign-up at the Lihu’e Public Library or by phone at 241-3222.
To all of you determined to get fit, get healthy, and enjoy life more in the New Year, your local librarians offer a toast of … carrot juice?… for good luck.
