Both Kaua’i Starbucks locations, Kukui Grove Center in Lihu’e and Kaua’i Village shopping center in Waipouli, now offer high-speed, wireless Internet service to customers.
A deal was struck between leaders of Starbucks Coffee and T-Mobile USA, Inc., to launch T-Mobile HotSpot service at the Kaua’i locations, and 44 other Starbucks locations across Hawai’i, a Star-bucks spokesperson said.
As easy as ordering lattes, Starbucks customers can check e-mail, surf the Web, stream video, or download multi-media presentations in the comfort of Starbucks via a fast, reliable, wireless Internet connection, with enhanced security, said Greg Meier, president of Coffee Partners Hawaii, an authorized licensee of Starbucks Coffee International,
“This wireless service is a natural extension of the Starbucks coffeehouse experience, which has always been about making connections with the people and information that are important to us over a cup of coffee,” said Meier.
“Mobile professionals have been waiting for Starbucks to offer high-speed wireless Internet access in a familiar and widely-available location that keeps them connected while on the road, or between the home and office. T-Mobile HotSpot is the right service offered in the right environment,” he said.
“These new deployments with Star-bucks in Hawai’i demonstrate T-Mobile HotPpot’s ongoing commitment to deliver on the promise of fast, reliable, and convenient wireless Internet access throughout the world,” said Joe Sims, vice president and general manager of T-Mobile HotSpot.
To connect, customers need a T-Mobile HotSpot account and Wi-Fi capability for their device. To log in to the service and establish a connection, customers with a properly configured notebook or Pocket PC simply need to launch their Internet browser from within a participating Starbucks, and log in.
