April M. Olivas Takeshiro is open for business at April’z Heavenly Hairstyles in the East Kauai Professional Building on Kuhio Highway across from the Kapa’a Neighborhood Center.
Among the products she’s offering in her full-service salon is something she calls “updos” for special occasions, including shampoos and blow dries, shampoo sets, curling-iron treatments, braids, flat ironing, scalp treatments, and more.
She is offering a special, 15-percent discount off services for those youngsters who want to look their best at the upcoming Winter Balls, and offers services for men, women and children, including cuts, color, washes and drying, highlights and lowlights, perms (perma-nents), braids, shampoo sets, and the aforementioned updos.
Born and raised on Kaua’i, she has 17 years of experience as a stylist, and said she loves what she does. She has worked at many different salons on O’ahu and Kaua’i, including some time at a hospital salon for patients.
She cuts hair for people of all ages, from young through senior citizens, and offers discounts to senior citizens, she said.
Her grand opening is this Thursday, Dec. 1, and the business is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and other hours by appointment.
“Come on over and check it out. Everyone is welcome,” she said of grandopening day.
Other services offered include hair coloring in five or 10 minutes, for those on tight schedules, 10-percent discounts off the services of their choice for first-time customers, free consultations, professional-quality hair products, and much more.
What she’s most excited about, besides opening her new business, is the personalized care she promises to each customer.
“I love what I do, and want you to look good from the inside and outside,” she said.
Those who are looking for something different, for someone who really cares about their hair and scalp, for someone concerned about their self-image, for someone they can trust with their hair, “gotta come on in and experience the warm feeling you’ll never forget,” she promises.
Walkins are welcome, she said.
