Kaua’i is well-represented on the Kamehameha Warriors, Kapalama Campus football teams, which include the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Intermediate Teams.
The Varsity Warriors will be battling their rival ILH foes, St. Louis and Punahou to represent the ILH in the Division I Post Season Playoffs. All three teams are currently tied at 1-1.
The Warriors beat Punahou two weeks ago, 27-17, then lost to St. Louis in a nail-biter last Friday, 21-14, as St. Louis scored the go-ahead touchdown with less than a minute to play. The Varsity Warriors will meet up with unbeaten Iolani (2-0) on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Aloha Stadium at 7:30 PM.
The Junior Varsity Team is undefeated, beating St Louis 45-34, then, beating Punahou, 36-14.
These are the only three schools in the ILH fielding JV teams. The other ILH teams opted not to join the JV ranks this year, and instead fielded only varsity and intermediate division teams.
The Junior Warriors next game is Friday, October 7, at St. Louis. These three teams will be battling each other a number of times this year and the games are figured to be close contests, very competitive and physical. Perez is among the league leaders in scoring while Nakamura leads the team in tackles and is the JV defensive captain.
