- Raindrops keep fallin’…According to state Department of Agriculture statistics, since Jan. 1, some 31 inches of rain have fallen in Anahola, 73 inches have fallen in Hanalei, and 25 inches have fallen at ‘Oma’o, the three selected stations on Kaua’i. The numbers for the same three stations a year ago were 30 inches, 74 inches, and 54 inches, respectively, meaning ‘Oma’o received more than twice as much rain by Sept. 19, 2004, than it has this year.
- For the week ending Friday, Sept. 23, Kaua’i’s hotel occupancy rate was 74 percent, down by 1.6 percent from the same time last year, according to information provided by Smith Travel Research/Hospitality Advisors LLC. O’ahu had an 84.5-percent hotel-occupancy rate, the highest in the state, and up 5 percent from the same period last year.
