Singh replaces Goosen at PGA Grand Slam

By Duane Shimogawa Jr. – The Garden Island

It wasn’t certain from the start that Retief Goosen would be making his second straight PGA Grand Slam of Golf appearance and yesterday the almost expected announcment was made by PGA officials.

Another participant from last year, Vijay Singh, will take the place of Goosen on the four-person field.

Joining Singh at the Po’ipu Bay Golf Course are Masters and British Open champion Tiger Woods, U.S. Open champion Michael Campbell, and PGA champion Phil Mickelson in the year’s showdown of major winners.

Singh finished second on the major champions points list. Goosen isn’t able to compete due to scheduling conflicts. The two-day shootout starts on November 22 in Po’ipu.
