To continue strengthening party ties, Kauai Democratic Party members plan to host a potluck luncheon and a day at the beach today at Lydgate Park in Wailua for Labor Day.
“We are hoping to bring various constituent elements of the Kauai Democratic Party back together,” party Chairman Martin Rice said of the event, to start at noon.
“We will have some local party leaders and, hopefully, candidates (for the 2006 election year) will show up.”
Rice said speeches calling for party unity could be made, and party members are especially interested in having young Democrats attend, those from 18 to 35 years of age.
“We are growing, and we have to put an emphasis on recruiting new members and strengthening our ties,” Rice said.
