Jerry Silva
JerryJoseph Silva of Kapa‘a died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 66.
Born in Hanama‘ulu on June 17, 1939, he was a heavy equipment operator with the County of Kauai. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ah Kai Chow Silva of Kapa‘a; son: Ray (Christine) Silva of Kapa‘a; daughter: Jerilyn (Stephen) Rapozo of Kapa‘a; three grandchildren: Sheena Rapozo, Cody Rapozo, and Christopher Silva of Kapa‘a; two brothers: Raymond (Alice) Silva of Hanama‘ulu and Ronald (Janet) Silva of Wailua; three sisters: Ida Porteous of California, Mary Jane Lake of Hanama‘ulu, and Charlotte Lum of Honolulu.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 to 10 a.m. with service to start at 10 a.m. at Lihue Christian Church officiated by Rev. James Koyama.
Burial will be at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
James “Sam” Okutsu
James Tsuneo “Sam” Okutsu of Koloa, died Aug. 14, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 74.
Born March 14, 1931, in Koloa, he was a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Koloa; two children: Melvin of Kalaheo and Leyona of California; four sisters; Fuchan Tanaka, Michan Matsuura, Margie (Hank) Shinn, and Rachael (Chiaki) Akazawa; two brothers: Seiji Okutsu and Paul (Floy) Okutsu; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cozuchi and Otoshi, brother Yukio and three sisters, Sumiko, Gladys and Betty.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Tokiko Katsuda
Tokiko Katsuda of Hanapepe died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on Aug. 17, 2005, at the age of 85.
Born in Hanapepe on Sept. 9, 1919, she was a sales clerk with Kawakami’s.
She is survived by three daughters, Eileen (Gregory) Pontti of Waialua, O‘ahu, Kathleen (Max) Miyashiro of Kalaheo, and Vivian (Christopher) Bernard of Kula, Maui; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Keiso (Miriam) Sakai of Pearl City, O‘ahu and Akio (Teruko) Sakai of Honolulu, O‘ahu; two sisters, Harumi Morita and Ruth Emoto; numerous nieces and nephews. Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
James Tsuneta
James Hajime Tsuneta of Hanapepe died at his home on Aug. 21, 2005 at the age of 73.
Born in Waimea on Aug. 24, 1931, he was a retired machinist inspector with Lockheed Aircraft.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; two daughters, Karen Tsuneta of Monterey Park, Calif., and Charlayne (Dennis) Gunderson of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandsons; mother, Haruyo Tsuneta. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. Casual attire is suggested.

Kazuko Kunioka
Kazuko Kunioka of Koloa died at home on Aug. 12, 2005, at the age of 86.
Born in Koloa on Dec. 10, 1918, she was a retired produce clerk with Big Save, Inc.
Preceded in death by husband, Kazuo, and daughter, Joan Kurihara, she is survived by four daughters, Jean (Alan) Shinseki of Gardena, Calif., Cynthia Kunioka of Koloa, Arlene (Dave) Fischer of Albuquerque, NM., and Alison (Guy) Moriguchi of Koloa; 10 grandchildren; two great-grand-children; two brothers, Ted (Florence) Fujimoto of Honolulu and Herbert Fujimoto of San Francisco, Calif.; sister, Joyce Fujimoto of Honolulu; numer0ous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were private.

Albert Koichi Fujii
Albert Koichi Fujii of Los Angeles, Calif., died July 24, 2005, in California at the age of 72.
Born Feb. 20, 1933, on Kaua‘i, he was an accountant.
He is survived by sisters: Grace (Tamotsu) Marumoto of O‘ahu, Mazie Fujinaka of Kaua‘i, Elsie Ishida of Kaua‘i, and Elaine (Ernest) Yamanoha; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 1:30 p.m. at All Saints Church in Kapa‘a followed by services at 2 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Gloria Pereira
Gloria Correa Pereira of Lihu‘e, died Aug. 22, 2005, at her home in Lihu‘e. Born Sept. 12, 1910, in Puhi, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons: Charles Pereira of Moloa‘a, Edwin Pereira of Lihu‘e and Wilbert Pereira of Lihu‘e; two daughters: Frances Lopes of Maui and Marie Andrade of California; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Aug. 26, from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church where Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. by Father Bill. Burial to follow at the church cemetery.
