The two to three foot sets at PK’s were just enough to kick off the KSA’s (Kaua‘i Surfing Association) 7th Annual Ho‘onua O Ke Kai Ocean Festival yesterday.
The glassy conditions turned into challenging surf as the morning trudged ahead, with the winds picking up.
For Matt Goodale, it was a great time to catch his younger brother, Dylan in action.
Matt, who comes from a water-loving family, spent most of the day at PK’s, watching the likes of Alex and Koa Smith, Kaikea Elias, Andrianna Mendivil, and more.
According to surf photographer Bobby Schutz, there were numerous food items available, along with a raffle for two brand-new surfboards.
The surfing continues today at PK’s and an awards ceremony will follow the action at 6 p.m. at Joe’s on the Green.
Sponsors for the event are Nalu Underground, Quiksilver, YMCA, and Bud Light.
