NHRA Drag racing roars to life this Sunday August 8 at Kauai Raceway Park in Kekaha.
The points race is heating up and competition should be intense as the season is now beyond the half way point and the battle is still up in the air.
With one of the points leaders out of town this weekend and another points leader Randy Lawrence injured in a recent recreational motorcycle spill and perhaps unable to participate, gives other racers a chance to make up ground on the leaders.
Garden Island Racing Association members have been busy at the track with mowing and weed cutting to prepare for this event and having things looking good for the Jr. National Dragster Challenge coming up Saturday night September 8.
This Sunday is a daytime event with gates opening at 8 am with test and tune starting about 10 am. Racing and eliminations start at 1pm and run until dusk.
Spectators enjoy the race tail gate style, so pack up the kids, bring the beach chairs and a good umbrella for shade and have a fun day at the races.
Admission is $10 with 12 and under free. For more information call Chris Loew 639-1046 or Bill Turk at 639-3965.
