PO‘IPU — Afternoon rains may have shortened the 2005 Plantation Days Putting Contest, but did not deter at least 45 golfers from completing the nine-hole course set up on the putting greens of the Po‘ipu Bay Resort Golf Course.
Johnny Jordan, visiting here from Santa Barbara, California, topped the field to capture a round of golf at the PBGC, a gift certificate for lunch, or dinner at the Po‘ipu Bay Grill and Bar, a golf shirt, visor, and golf balls.
Darren Valencia was relegated to second place in the contest, but won a similar cache of prizes for his effort.
Mark Kaholaku of Kalaheo and Ron Kamibayashi of Koloa emerged as co-winners of the third place offerings which included Po‘ipu Beach Broiler bucks.
Throughout the afternoon, children, their parents, and golfers alike worked their way through the putting course, leaving their completed scorecards with the tournament officials who determined the winners following the final putters.
Po‘ipu Bay Resort Golf Course is the home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf that will take place later this year.
