Poipu Bay Golf Course heats up with summer specials
By The Garden Island
The Poipu Bay Golf Course, home to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a variety of summer specials for golfers, available now through September 30. The anniversary offers include weekly drawings for PGA Grand Slam of Golf tickets, free rental clubs, and special values for women golfers, couples and kama’aina (Hawai‘i residents).
Every day is ladies’ day at Poipu Bay this summer. For groups of eight or more female players, Poipu Bay will extend a $35 greens fee per player and a 15 1243304iscount on breakfast or lunch at Poipu Bay Grill and Bar. (The dining discount is valid for the day of group play only and does not apply to liquor, tax or gratuity.)
Poipu Bay’s “Couples Special” offers 505036640ff a second green fee when one green fee is paid at the regular rate of $185 (or $125 for guests of the Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort & Spa). This offer is not applicable to kama’aina rates or other discounted greens fees.
During the summer months, a paid 18-hole green fee (excluding twilight or group play) allows golfers free use of Poipu Bay’s standard rental clubs, subject to availability. VIP rental club sets are not included in this offer.
All golfers and visitors to the Poipu Bay Golf Shop can enter the course’s weekly drawing to win a three-day season pass for the 2005 PGA Grand Slam of Golf, being held November 21 through 23 at Poipu Bay. Drawings will take place every Friday through September 30.
For Hawai‘i residents, Poipu Bay offers a discounted green fee of $60. For groups of four kama’aina players the fee is even less: four can play for the price of three, as a green fee of $45 per person will apply. A Hawaii drivers license for each player is required in order to qualify for these kama’aina offers.
Poipu Bay is an 18-hole championship golf course, situated on 210 oceanfront acres on Kauai’s sunny southern coast. A Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, Poipu Bay has, over the years, won numerous awards and has been consistently rated among the top golf courses in Hawai‘i and the United States. Since 1994, Poipu Bay has been host to the annual PGA Grand Slam of Golf, the prestigious year-end competition between the four major PGA championship winners of the year, vying for the title of “Champion of Champions” and a share of the $1 million purse.
Other special rates and packages are available year-round at Poipu Bay Golf Course. For more information or to book tee times, call the Poipu Bay golf shop at toll-free 1-800-858-6300 or direct (808) 742-8711.
