Kaua‘i’s Cyrus “The Virus” Medeiros coached and played on the second best speedball team, The Assassins, who completed in the first annual MCCS patriots 5 men speedball tournament on July 2.
This event was held on MCAS Camp Futenma in Okinawa, Japan.
“We finished in 2nd out of 5 teams, not a really big tournament, but we played against two of the best teams on Okinawa,” Medeiros said.
The Bunker Monkeys (placed 1st) and the Pickups (placed 3rd) were the toughest teams in the tournament.
“All and all, we had a lot of fun and a good experience,” Medeiros said.
Team members include Jesse Nunez, Marcus Baker, David Culp, Sonny Gotis, and Cyrus Medeiros.
Speedball, more widely known as paintball has been a growing entity on the island and Medeiros would like to get everyone involved with the challenging sport.
