The Kawaihau Little League all stars were putting in some last-minute practices last weekend, with the help of coach Glenn Mickens, going through the different fundamentals at the Main Diamond at the Kawaihau Little League field.
Fig Mitchell, manager for the all-star team, said they will be leaving for the District 1 Tournament on Monday afternoon, with their first game taking place on Tuesday.
“This time we’re doing it right,” Mitchell said. “There was one time when we got off the plane, boarded the bus, and was on the field for the first game. We weren’t ready. This time, we’re doing it right.”
The District 1 Tournament will be taking place starting at the Keolu Field in Kailua, O’ahu, and runs from Tuesday through Sunday.
Members of the Kawaihau all-star team include: Kurtis Nagahisa, Justyn Nagahisa, Samson Rapozo, Beau Kohatsu, Grant Mitchell, Rashaan Kuhaulua, Robert Soares, Thompson Aipa-Rivera, Geordan Gray, Duane Wakuta, Jr., Derek Yamane, Austin Thronas, Robin Raza, and Christain Rapozo.
Manager Mitchell’s coaching staff includes Kennison Nagahisa, Bryan Aiwohi, Mike Yamane, and Duane Wakuta, Sr.
