News released last week could result in a catastrophe for Hawai‘i. The World health Organization announced that in the next one to three yeas a world pandemic of avian flu could occur. Currently there is no cure or vaccine for this flu. Honolulu airport has been listed as one of the most critical entry points for the spread of the virus in the United States. There is a plan to test those entering our airports who appear to be ill.
It is important that the Governor and County Mayors take immediate action to control the wild chickens and pigs that roam our islands. The medical profession should be planning how they would deal with a pandemic outbreak. Where is our plan for this looming crisis?
