The five Miss Kauai Filipina hopefuls got an opportunity to take their training public recently when they were joined by reigning Miss Kauai Filipina Jaelyn Caminos in a fashion show at Kukui Grove Center.
Several weeks have transpired since the five hopefuls for the crown of the 2005 Miss Kauai Filipina started their series of training in preparation for the scholarship pageant that will take place on Saturday, June 18, starting at 7 p.m. at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e.
Modeling fashions from the mall shops, the contestants paraded through three changes, punctuated with hula renderings from Caminos.
This year’s contestants include three students from the Kaua‘i Community College, as well as a graduating senior from Kapa‘a High School and one from Kaua‘i High School.
The KCC students include Sharon Viquelia, Patricia Agustin, and Amanda Schone. Veronica Pablo graduated from Kapa‘a High School, and Nicole Balbarino celebrated her graduation from Kaua‘i High School last weekend.
Tickets for the pageant are available from any of the contestants, or from members of the Kauai Filipino Community Council.
