• Cesspoll ban
Many individuals now whine and cry over the recent crackdown by the EPA over the thousands of illegal cesspools in Hawai‘i.
“Oh, this caught us by surprise.”
“Oh, we can’t afford to comply.”
Come off it people. A cesspool is a disgusting pile of human waste polluting ground water and the ocean. It is now illegal to have a duplex, ohana, or two homes connected to single cesspool.
Deal with it. There is nothing you can say to justify continuing to operate one of these. Even
if your home is located on solid rock or at ocean level you can install an inexpensive above
ground septic system.
It has been rumored, and it is most likely only a matter of time before all cesspools of any size or type are banned.
I think that is a good thing.
So even if you have a legal cesspool now, I recommend changing it.
Dear Peter, My heart went out to you about your situation in Hawaii, your home! I only hope you are in a safe place and that nothing happened to you!!! Be safe, Rose
