KIF looking for volleyball officials
By The Garden Island
The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) is recruiting community members interested in becoming volleyball officials.
Training, both written and practical, will be offered this summer in time for the 2005-2006 KIF Interscholastic Season.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Neil Pigao at 335-4176 or 482-0864 or Diane Nitta at 274-3507.
They look forward to providing this opportunity for volleyball enthusiasts interested in officiating, learning in detail rules of the game and ultimately supporting our student athletes on Kaua‘i.

Last chance to learn to swim
Mokihana Aquatics, Kaua‘i’s only USA Swimming sanctioned club is having its last “Learn to Swim” class, Spring Session five from May 23-June 8. All levels are welcomed and this will be the last chance to get into a “Learn to Swim” class for the spring. Also, everyone is invited to attend an open house at the Kaua‘i High School Swimming Pool from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, after the Sakamoto Invitational time trials. It’s open to the public and best of all, it’s free! Call Coach “O” for more information or just to bug him at 821-0587.
Lindsey leads Hustlers with 13
The Kanuikapono Hustlers, led by Kawelo Lindsey’s 13 points, defeated Eastside, 28-25 in KYBA (Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association) 12-and-under boys action in Kilauea on Monday. Jon Das led Eastside with 12 points.

Walter J. Smith race set for Saturday

From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., you will be able to see some of Kaua‘i’s finest paddlers split the waters of Wailua in exciting sprint action. Local folks, come cheer your friends and family members; visitors, come enjoy a free event that most of you never see.
