The University of Hawai‘i men’s golf team finished round one in ninth place after shooting 317 as a team on the Squire Creek golf course.
Also in the top 20 is senior Kellen-Floyd Asao, who is tied for 17th after shooting a six-over 78 in the first round.
Sophomores Cody Wolfen-barger (T41, 83) and Pierre-Henri Soero (T44, 84) and senior Ben Douglas (T47, 85) are also competing for the Warriors.
Following round one, Tulsa holds the lead after they fired a 13-over-par 301 as a team. The Golden Hurricanes maintained a five-stroke lead over second place Nevada and Rice.
Tulsa’s Sam Korbe who is atop the individual leader board, heads into the second round with a one stroke advantage over second-place golfers.
The WAC Championships resume Tuesday morning with the UH squad hitting the links at 8:28 a.m. EST.
