East Kauai was the first to score in the top of the first inning with six runs on hits from Damien Victorino, Alex Youn, Dickie Koerte, Rick Ramones, Al Salvador and Norman Holt.
In the second inning with the first batter getting on with an error and the second batter getting a walk, Alex Youn hit a double scoring both base runners. Dickie Koerte then hit a sacrifice fly to left field and scored Youn. Ramones then drew a walk, Jerome Hew a single and Ronnie Holt smacked a sacrifice fly to score Ramones.
Salvador hit a single followed by Ernest Koerte who pops one to right field and scores the fifth run in the inning. In the third inning Victorino, Donald Boro, Dickie Koerte and Ramones all get base hits to score three more runs. Two more runs in the fifth inning on hits from Ned Night-owl and Youn, and three runs in the sixth on hits from Ronnie Holt, Salvador, Norman Holt (two RBI’s), Nightowl, and Victorino.

K-Makule came up with three runs in the bottom of the first inning on hits from Eddie Dela Cruz, Jerry Albarado, Gordon Arakaki, Guy Ruiz and Danny Smith. Two more runs in the third inning on hits from Dela Cruz, Albarado, John Taboniar and Smith gave K-Makule five total. In the fourth inning K-Makule came up with three runs on hits from Stan Buduan, Lefty Remata, Dela Cruz and Albarado. The last two K-Makule runs came in the fifth inning on hits from Taboniar, Smith, Buduan, Lefty Remata and Dela Cruz. Hitters for K-Makule were: Lefty Remata and Guy Ruiz with 2 for 4, Albarado, Taboniar, Smith and Buduan with 3 for 4, and Dela Cruz with 4 for 4. Losing pitcher was Dela Cruz.
Lihu‘e A’s 10, West Kaua‘i 5
Lihu‘e A’s scored four runs in the top of the first inning by way of three walks, sacrifice flies from Randy Tomlinson and Bruddah Rittmeister and base hits from Ismo Yoshishige and Ernie Domingo. Two more runs were added to the score book in the second inning on hits from Ed Bales, Pete Rayno and Tomoo Hiranaka. A run crossed the plate in the third inning on a base hit from Domingo bringing in Glenn Akina.
In the fifth inning, Lihu‘e scored run number eight on base hits from Rittmeister and Roy Running. The final two Lihu‘e runs were added in the sixth inning with John Ochoco getting a base hit and scoring on a home run from Dwight Fujii. Hitters for Lihue were: Domingo with 2 for 4, Fujii, Rayno and Running with 2 for 3, and Hiranaka with 3 for 4. Winning pitcher was Rittmeister.
West Kaua‘i scored four of their five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on base hits from Albert Carveiro, Larry Ephan, Bernard Mahuiki and Maxie Moreno. The final West Kaua‘i run came in the seventh inning on a home run from Ephan. Hitters for West Kaua‘i were: Ephan, Mahuiki, and Moreno with 2 for 3. Losing pitcher was Ben Aranio.
Rookies 18, Kawaihau 4
The Rookies grabbed hold of the game from the first inning by scoring four runs on seven base hits from Walter Souza, Hank Nisikawa, Stan Dela Cruz, Mike Folster Wayne Hashimoto, Richard Vidinha and Hado Maeda.
In the second inning, the Rookies total became six when Nisikawa crossed home plate on a Kawaihau error and Dela Cruz scored on a base hit from Folster. In the third inning, the Rookies gained five more runs on base hits from Hashimoto, Maeda, Wally Sonoda, Souza, Nishikawa and Dela Cruz. In the fifth inning the Rookies score became thirteen when Nishikawa scored on a base hit from Dela Cruz. The top of the sixth saw five Rookies runners come across home plate. Archie Fontanilla, Raymond Espino, Hashimoto and Manuel Pacheco were the hitters with Souza getting a home run. Hitters for the Rookies were: Dela Cruz, Folster and Espino with 2 for 4, Maeda with 2 for 3, Souza and Hashimoto with 3 for 4 and Nishikawa with 4 for 5. Winning pitcher was Fontanilla.
Kawaihau had three runs in the first inning. Leadoff batter Gary Wardlow hit a home run. Calvin Fujita got a single and came home on a home run from Sherwood Iida. Run number four came in the third inning when Bob Herrmann came across on a base hit from Milton Hironaka. Hitters for Kawaihau were: Wardlow with 2 for 2, Fujita and Iida with 2 for 3. Losing pitcher was Teddy Daligdig.
K-Makule 16, Kuku’s Aces 14
The Aces were the first to score in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Kaleo Furtado that scored Ale Lomosad who had earlier drawn a walk.
K-Makule came up with three runs in the same inning on hits from Jerry Albarado and Gordon Arakaki topped with a home run from Guy Ruiz for three RBI’s.
In the third inning, the Aces scored two runs when Willie Allianac got on with an error and Ale Lomosad hit a home run. In the bottom of the third inning K-Makule came back with three more runs on a walk to Herman Fraticelli and hits from Jerry Albarado, Guy Ruiz and John Taboniar.
In the fourth inning Junior Ruiz crossed the plate on a K-Makule error for the Aces fourth run of the game.
K-Makule then scored seven runs on a double from Stan Buduan, a home run from Rudy Villon and base hits from Albarado, Arakaki, Guy Ruiz, Taboniar and Danny Smith. The score was now K-Makule 13, Kuku’s Aces 4.
In the top of the fifth inning the Aces came up with three runs as a result of a walk to Sonny Hoopii, a K-Makule error and base hits from Allianac, Lomosad and Junior Ruiz.
In the top of the sixth inning Kuku’s Aces pulled out all the stops and came up with seven big runs. Solo Reyes and Stan Rita drew walks. Ben Pescador then hit a single to left field and scored Reyes. Rico Morris hit a double and scored Rita. Sonny Hoopii and Tada Hashimoto hit singles with Hashimoto’s hit bringing in Morris. Allianac also hit a single and drove in Hoopii. Lomosad drew a walk and with the bases loaded Gordon Doo hits a grand slam. After five-and-a- half innings, the score was Kuku’s Aces 14, K-Makule 13.
In the bottom of the sixth inning leadoff batter Rudy Villon hits a solo home run, tying the score. Gordon Arakaki drew a walk and Guy Ruiz hit a home run and to put the K-Makule ahead to stay.
Hitters for the Aces were: Gordon Doo with a grand slam, Lomosad with 2 or 2, and Junior Ruiz with 3 for 4. Losing pitcher was Tada Hashimoto.
