When was the last time you saw KIF basketball on a Thursday night? Well, if it’s been awhile, tonight’s the night to quench that Thursday night basketball thirst with girls’ basketball on tap at the Raider-dome.
The reason though for the change is the fact that it conflicts with another KIF event, which happens to be the KIF track and field championship.
There are some individuals who are taking part in both events, such as Kapa‘a’s Joliann Arzadon, who is a high jumper and a guard on the Warrior basketball team.
Kapa‘a, fresh off a big win on Tuesday against the first round champion Menehune squad, has a chance to tie the Red Raiders for the second-round lead with a victory.
On the other side, the Red Raiders could lock up the second round title with a win over the Warriors.
This would set up a championship game showdown between Waimea and Kaua‘i for all the marbles on May 10.
The HHSAA State Girls Division I Basketball Tournament goes from May 17-20 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Also on tap for today is the KIF tennis qualifying matches, starting at 8 a.m. and the finals will go down on Friday at the Kiahuna Tennis Courts in Po‘ipu.
