The University of Hawai‘i Rainbow baseball team (21-23, 8-10 WAC) swept San Jose State in California their first road sweep since 2001 and their first sweep on the mainland since 1999. The series put UH back in the hunt as they are now just 3.0 games behind conference-leading Rice with 12 games to play.
Stephen Bryant earned WAC Pitcher of the Week honors for his near-complete game shutout victory on April 22. Bryant allowed only two hits in 8.2 innings with just one walk.
This week, the ‘Bows host Nevada (20-17, 9-6 WAC) for a three-game series, running from Thursday, April 28, to Saturday, April 30. All three games will start at 6:35 p.m. Nevada is currently in second place in the WAC standings, just a half a game behind the Owls.
