Even if the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t doing so well this season, at least the “Lihu‘e” Lakers are doing a lot better than their counterparts.
Under the guidance of coaches Jeff Venzon and “Pistol” Pete Rayno, the Lihu‘e Lakers 14-and-under boys basketball team traveled to Kaimuki on O‘ahu during spring break to participate in the Ted Kimura Invitational Goodwill Basketball Tournament.
The young men would like to thank everyone who supported them in their fundraising efforts, which helped defray their travel expenses.
The team also didn’t come home empty handed. The Lakers were awarded the tournament’s sportsmanship award and teammates Brian Gerardo and Travis Stine were named to the all-tournament team.
Team members included Gerardo, Stine, Jordan Tottori, Kilika Detloff, Jeremy Rocha, Tommy Patch, Ian Lactaotao, Matt Koyama, Justin Ramos, and Kyle Wong.
