Rita Norman named sales manager of year for 2004
- Rita Norman, sales manager for the Hyatt Regency Kauai, was named sales manager of the year in Hyatt Corporation’s 2004 annual sales, catering and convention awards, according to Doug Sears, general manager of Hyatt Regency Kauai Resort and Spa.
Katy Britzmann, director of sales and marketing for the hotel, also nominated Norman for the award.
Britzmann said Norman’s tireless enthusiasm, relationship management skills, hard work and determination made her a natural for the award,” according to a press release.
Norman achieved 228 percent of quota and was the highest revenue producer in he entire resort division, producing more than $5.3 million in rooms revenue.
Raised in Santa Fe Springs, California, Norman is a graduate of California State University in Long Beach where she majored in journalism and creative writing.
Norman joined Hyatt Regency Kauai in 1999.
Cruise ships calling on Nawiliwili
- Tomorrow, Monday, April 18, the Pride of Aloha, 850 feet long, calls on Nawiliwili Harbor, arriving at 7 a.m. and remaining overnight, leaving Tuesday, April 19, at 1 p.m.
Saturday, April 23, the Tahitian Princess, 592 feet long, is scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m., and leave the same day at 6 p.m.
Pacific Clinic has new psychologist on board
- Pacific Clinic Inc. in Kapaa announced its association with Dr. Joan Dawson.
Dawson is the clinic’s fulltime staff psychologist and is currently scheduling group counseling sessions for individuals in addition to couples, children and families.
Group counseling is now being offered for weight management, adult attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders, anxiety management, women’s issues and grief therapy.
Dr. Dawson is experienced in the treatment of chronic mental illness, crisis therapy, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and childhood disorders.

Leutzes win Realtor recognition
- Don and Sylvia Leutz, Realtor associates with Century 21 All Islands were awarded the Accredited Buyer Representation (ABR) designation by the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council, Inc. (RE-BAC) of the National Association of Realtors.

- The 13th Annual CAK (Contractors Association of Kaua‘i) Home Show, presented by First Hawaiian Bank, is set for Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, at the Kauai Veterans Center on Kapule Highway in Lihu‘e. Viva Las Vegas
- For Hawaiian travelers who don’t want their Las Vegas vacations to end, Hawaiian Airlines now offers an extra day, or rather, an extra night, as airline leaders launched their “Midnight Madness” service last week. Hawaiian Airlines’ new flight departs Honolulu at 2:15 p.m., and arrives in Las Vegas at 10:45 p.m. The return “Night Owl Special” departs Las Vegas in the wee hours of the morning, 2:45 a.m., and touches down in Honolulu at 5:55 a.m. Hawaiian Airlines will be providing five Midnight Madness flights weekly through April, before increasing to six flights May 1.
