The 2005 Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Wild Turkey Bourbon West Rice Shopping Center Open will take place Sunday, April 17-Monday, April 19 at Lihu‘e Lanes. The field will include six-time PBA Tour champion Robert Smith, Thousand Oaks, Calif., as well as exempt bowlers Tony Reyes, San Jose, Calif., and Michael Fagan, Greenlawn, N.Y. Defending champion David Leverage, Peoria, Ariz., will also be on hand to compete for the projected $2,500 top prize. The 2005 PBA Wild Turkey Bourbon West Rice Shopping Center Open will begin Sunday, April 17 with the official PBA practice session from 2-4 p.m. Official PBA Pro-Ams, where fans can bowl with the pros, begin at 5 p.m. Competition begins Monday, April 18 when the entire field will bowl eight games of qualifying beginning at 11 a.m.
The top one-third of the field will return Tuesday, April 19 and bowl five games of qualifying at 8 a.m. before another cut is made to the top 16 qualifiers. The round of 16 begins at 11:30 a.m. and consists of best-of-five-games match play. The round of 8, which features best-of-three-games match play, will immediately follow. The final four players will bowl single-game semifinal matches and the two remaining bowlers will play one game to determine the champion.
