The 2005 Kaua‘i Junior Golf season is well underway and its second match of the season made its way to the Princeville Makai Golf Course from April 9-10.
Mariah Paiste won the 10-and-under championship with a 44 and Trevor Kua followed Paiste with a 50.
Darren Valencia enjoyed the win in the 12-and-under championship with an 88. Justin Uegawa (91), Noa Masuyoshi (92), Kyle Groves (100), and Kaiton Sawada (108) rounded out the top five.
Dylan Balisacan won easily in the 10-and-under contest with a 95. Balisacan was followed by Jon Furusho (102), Kai Adachi (106), and Tyler Costa (113).
In medal play, Cory Oride (81) outdueled Levi Miyashiro (89) in the boys 12-15 championship.
Ryan Wong (101), Kyle Furusho (107), and Kelan Adachi rounded out the field (115).
Kelli Oride was spectacular in the 11-14 girls championship with an 87. She was followed by Malia Saiki (88) and Rae-Lyn Morikawa (98).
Hot shootin’ Shelcie Takenouchi nailed down the win in the 14-18 division with an 80. Wiley Yoshioka (83), Byron Rualizo (84), Micah Yoshioka (85), Bubby Saiki (92), and Grant Paiste (92), all made the top six.
Kellen Watabu was golden in the 15-18 boys championship. Watabu shot a 75 on the day.
Michael Garcia (76), Travis Toguchi (81), Nikko Tacsiat (83), Noel Torres (84), Stephen Peeren (88), and Jet Levinthol (88) rounded out the top seven golfers.
