Augustine “Jiggs” Cataluna
Augustine “Jiggs” Cataluna of Hanama‘ulu, died at home on Apr. 7, 2005 at the age of 85.
Born in Koloa, on Oct. 18, 1919, he was a working foreman with the state of Hawai‘i.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dora” Cataluna; son, Clayton Cataluna of Hanama‘ulu; two daughters, Carol (Domi) Alayvilla of Hanama‘ulu and Linda Cataluna of Puhi; four grandchildren: Lance (Dawn) Alayvilla, Kenneth (Apryle) Rosa, Chad (Nasha Kenney) Alayvilla, and Michele Tamura; three great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Brandon and Aubree Alayvilla; sister, Helen (Charles) Abreu of California; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 14, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; Mass officiated by Father Bill Shannon will begin at 10 a.m. followed by burial at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.

Abel Medeiros
Abel Medeiros of Koloa, died April 8, 2005, at his home in Koloa at the age of 85.
Born March 7, 1920, on Kaua‘i, he was a retired captain in the Hawai‘i Army National Guard, former member of the First State Legislature and Kaua‘i County Council, retired industrial relations assistant for McBryde Sugar Co.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Helen Ornellas Medeiros; daughter: Carol Furtado; daughter and caregiver: Suzette (Bill) Kane; son: Peter (Laura) Medeiros; two sisters: Eleanor Cox and Evelyn (James) Cabral; sister-in-law Otilda Medeiros; seven grandchildren: Michelle (Kimo Texeira) Jacintho, Nicole Jacintho, Mellissa (Aaron) Kupihea, Chauncey (Ryanon Dilliner) Medeiros, Dillon Kane, Adriana Medeiros and Helena Medeiros; eight great grandchildren: Karri-Lee Texeira, Ashley Serraon, Taylor Gushiken, Kaimakani Texeira, Tyrus Kupihea, Kapena Abel Texeira, Kendra Kupihea and Kai-Lee Kupihea; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., on Saturday, April 16, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa, where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Biz. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Sebastiana “Sebina” Cottone
Sebastiana “Sebina” Cottone of Koloa died on March 27, 2005, at the age of 78.
Born Nov. 27, 1926 in Sicily, Italy she was a retired tailor. She is survived by her brother Giuseppe Cottone and his wife, nephew Claudio and other nephews, nieces, and cousins from Sicily. She had numerous friends on Kaua‘i and was a hanai grandmother to all children who knew her. Sebina loved to travel, garden, and fish. She liked to catch fish and them give them to others. She was fond of all animals.
A memorial service will be held by her friends on Thursday, April 14, at 4:30 p.m. at Hale Ohana (in the pavilion), 3985 Ohuohu Road, Koloa. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Douglas Machado
Douglas Machado of Kapa‘a died at his residence on March 31, 2005, at the age of 73. A truck driver with Lihue Plantation, he was born January 23, 1932, on Kaua‘i.
He is survived by four children: Raynard (Esther) Machado; Matt (Myra) Machado; Phillip (Danette) Benedito; and Lynn (Ricky) Haas; two brothers: Abraham (Helen) Machado and Bernard (Shirley) Machado; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a.
Viewing is from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., and memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
The family requests casual attire.

Filomeno Crisologo
Filomeno “Popong” Crisologo, 77, of Honolulu, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital Moanalua.
He was born in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the 82nd Air-borne Division during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired electronic mechanic from the U.S. Navy Department, Pearl Harbor.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Caridad “Caring” Crisologo; sons, William Crisologo, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Wilmer Crisologo of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters Audrey Kamai of Honolulu; Eileen Rodriguez, of Seattle, Wash.; and Diane Crisologo of Honolulu; nephews Dionard Crisologo of Covina, Calif., and Roger Balite of Honolulu; 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild. An evening visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, April 15, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary.
A service in celebration of his life will begin at 7 p.m. Another visitation will be held at the mortuary from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16.
Final service will be at 9:30 a.m., with burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 a.m. Aloha attire requested.
Tomasa Bajit
Tomasa Osias Bajit of Lihu‘e died at Garden Isle Healthcare in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 6, 2005, at the age of 85.
Born in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines on March 6, 1920, she is survived by her husband, Mariano Bajit; two sons, Leonides (Juliet) Bajit of Lihu‘e and Melchor (Milagros) Bajit of Eleele Nani; four daughters, Maxima (Rolando) Jardin of Kekaha, Antonia Bajit of Kalaheo, Olivia (Pablo) Antolin of Kalaheo and Teresita Bajit of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren, two great-grand-children; four sisters, Elena Osias, Clemencia Libao, Felicidad (Fred) Betoy and Maura (Prosenio) Lumibao all of the Philippines; also survived by an uncle and aunt, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sat., April 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; mass officiated by Father Shannon will begin at 10 a.m. Followed by burial at the Lihue Public Cemetery.

Clarita Garduque Campos of Waimea, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on April 1, 2005, at the age of 83.
Born in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Dec. 6, 1921, she was a laborer with Gay & Robinson.
She is survived by her husband, Francisco Campos Sr.; two sons, Rudy (Kathy) Campos of Simi Valley, Calif., and Francisco (Lola) Campos Jr. of Hanama‘ulu; two daughters, Fely (Daryll) DeMent of Hanapepe Heights and Marcy (Nelson) Mendonca of ‘Ele‘ele; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at ‘Ele‘ele; service officiated by Father Nap to begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Fay Sadamitsu
Fay Hanae Sadamitsu of Lihu‘e, died April 2, 2005, at Kapi‘olani Medical Center in Honolulu at the age of 53.
Born Feb. 3, 1952, in Hawai‘i, she was a preschool director and teacher for Kauai Economic Opportunity, Inc.
She is survived by two aunts: Fuyuko (Kazuki) Shimizu of Koloa and Hatsuko Sadamitsu of Lihu‘e ; and numerous cousins.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Kauai Veterans Center, where memorial services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Private interment will be done at Lihue Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
